Felicity Jones calls herself a kick-ass Disney princess and we couldn’t agree more
Just when you thought she couldn’t get any better, Felicity Jones talks Disney princess inspiration and her views on feminism in Glamour UK’s latest issue and man, do we love her.
The Rogue One: A Star Wars Story actress is a new kind of princess, well a new kind of Disney princess and she’s totally okay with it. In fact, Jones opened up about her favorite Disney movie growing up and compared it to her upcoming Disney role and it’s spot on.
"The first film I ever saw at the cinema was The Little Mermaid, so I wanted to be Ariel," Jones told Glamour UK as a part of their January cover story.
Could you imagine the British actress running around her house singing, “Under the Sea?” For some reason, we can’t stop picturing it.
Jones continued to talk Disney, this time focusing on her current badass role and we are in full agreement.
"Now I am playing a Disney princess. A very contemporary, kick-ass Disney princess!" she said.
Clearly Jones has always aspired to be a kick-butt female, with inspirations like Ariel and taking on such a strong female lead in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The 33-year-old actress revealed that she has always been a strong woman, based on her feminist views.
"I've always been a feminist, and what I love in my work is being able to explore a full-sided woman and not patronize her," Jones explained to the publication.
"Particularly with Jyn, it's such a rare opportunity to be able to play a female who's not just thinking about romantic relationships," she added.
If we weren’t planning on seeing Jones in the latest Star Wars adventure, we’re definitely going to now. Girl power all the way!
