Meet Jill Layton, our contributor of the week!

Jill lives in Long Beach, California and thinks it’s weird that riding stationary bikes in a dark room is a thing, but frequently does it anyway.

She suffers from an addiction to cookies, chips, and her dog, Riley. She’s a world renowned writer of texts and emails, and is okay at Twitter and her Blog. She’s proficient in friendship and quality time.
Hometown: Indianapolis
Where I live now: Long Beach, California. Because “beach”.
Fave book of ALL time: Every Dr. Seuss book.
Person who inspires me the most: My wife
What made me want to become a writer: I’ve always been decent at writing funny texts and emails, so I decided to do it in a more public platform where more people could validate that I can be moderately funny sometimes. Also, I like having an idea and then turning that idea into words that some people might enjoy reading.
Music I listen to when I write: I don’t listen to music when I write, but I do listen to my dog dreaming. Seriously, she’s a very vocal dreamer.
Fave place to work: Any place where I can bring my dog, eat snacks all day and laugh a lot.
Writers I look up to: Mindy Kaling, Nora Ephron, RL Stine, Maya Angelou, Dr. Seuss
Favorite GIF ever:

This is the best meme:

My favorite story I wrote for HelloGiggles is…For Everyone Who Has Lost or Will Lose a Parent“. It’s not super uplifting, and it’s a hard truth to comprehend until it happens, but I wanted to share my thoughts about what I felt and discovered about grief when my mom died. I wanted people who have lost one or both parents to know that whatever feelings they feel aren’t crazy or wrong.
The title of my memoir would be: Jokes are People Too
