Beth has written for the New York Daily News, NBC News, NYMag.com, the New York Post, Flavorwire…
and The New York Times, among others. She spends far too much time drinking tea and thinking about the perfect eyeshadow. You can find her on Twitter, Instagram, and check out more of her work here.
Hometown: Akron, OH (LeBron James territory; we once were at the same party in high school, so I was told, but you know, NBD).
Where I live now: Brooklyn, NY
Fave book of ALL time: “One Hundred Years of Solitude”
Person who inspires me the most: Can I say people? Meryl Streep, Kate Middleton, Nellie Bly. Look the last one up if you need to, she was an incredible journalist in the 1800s.
What made me want to become a writer: Getting positive feedback from my first book of poetry in 2nd grade (it was mostly limericks and haikus); also, Nellie Bly
Music I listen to when I write: I usually don’t! If I listen to music with words, I start typing them, which make my articles infinitely more confusing, and it’s hard to explain to an editor why Destiny’s Child lyrics keep popping up in a story about American Apparel.
Fave place to work: Writer stereotype here — I like quiet neighborhood coffee shops and writing from home in yoga pants.
Writers I look up to: David Remnick, Marie Colvin, Miranda July, David Sedaris, Tobias Wolff, Flannery O’Connor
This is the best meme: I will forever love Sad Keanu.
My favorite story I wrote/made for HelloGiggles is… My ode to my BFF
The title of my memoir would be… “What I Talk About When I Talk About Cheese”
