Our favorite 11-year-old dance prodigy’s amazing IDFWU video
Remember Taylor Hatala, the crazy-spunky 11-year-old girl who made us all jump out of our seats when she went viral dancing to Anaconda? The incredibly talented dancer is BACK with a new video, featuring her friend and self-proclaimed “fraternal twin” Larsen Thompson. Larsen is three years older than Taylor, but yeah, they could totally pass for twins, especially when they are dropping it like it’s hot in perfect synchronization.
The new video shows the pair dressed in backwards button-up shirts, inside out jeans, and matching long ponytails, busting a move to the very-censored song “IDFWU” by Big Sean. These little ladies have more sass between them in this four minute dance routine than most of us dream of having over the course of our entire life.
Directed by Tim Milgram (who also directed child back-up dancer prodigy Alyson Stoner’s tribute to Missy Elliott), the video’s routine was choreographed by Janelle Ginestra, who has created insanely sick moves for the girls before.
Though the “IDFWU” track has a pretty R-rated theme, the video parodies some common images in rap culture. Larsen shows off a stack of bread (no not money, actual bread) and then “makes it rain” on Taylor, who pretends to look shocked.
The pair also poses with guns, but they aren’t the kind of guns you commonly see in a music video. They are neon-colored squirt guns, and the girls aren’t afraid to use them. Between seriously mugging for the camera and pretending to drive a badass car, Taylor and Larsen play around with the water guns, laughing and making us wish we were outside playing with water guns and our BFF. It’s hilarious and adorable, and we are impressed that the two girls can rock complicated dance moves one minute and be joking around the next.
Brava, little nuggets. Dance on.
