The beautiful way that fatherhood has changed Prince William forever
In a new documentary set to air on Britain’s ITV, Prince William talks about how fatherhood has changed him as a person, and what he has to say is making us tear up a little.
Speaking in a preview clip from the show, the future king of England says being a dad to super adorable Prince George and Princess Charlotte has given him a serious case of the feels. Not that we blame him. Those are some sweetheart children, and of course being a parent is a life-changing job.
“I’m a lot more emotional than I used to be, weirdly,” he explains. “I never used to get too wound up or worried about things. But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father. Just because you realize how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective. The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that.”
Losing his mom, Princess Diana, when he was only 15 years old no doubt has an effect on how Prince William reacts to tragic news in the press as well. William spoke recently about the death of his mom and called grief “the most painful experience that any child or parent can endure.”
We can absolutely relate to what Prince William says about current events making us appreciate the fleeting, precious nature of life. Taking a look at world headlines can definitely be an eye opener. But we love that William has found such happiness in his children. In the interview, he calls little Prince George and Princess Charlotte “good as gold, honestly.” Aww. That’s one proud dad.
The documentary is called When Ant and Dec Met the Prince: 40 Years of the Prince’s Trust and will air on Monday night. You can read more about it here.
