The fashions at the “How to Talk to Girls at Parties” premiere are futuristic fantasies

The cast of How to Talk to Girls at Parties walked the red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival looking super futuristic. It’s not a surprise that the actors would show up looking so funky and fresh. The film is an adaption of a Neil Gaiman short story with the same title.

Director John Cameron Mitchell took the story and changed it too take place in 1977. The film is about an alien (Ellie Fanning) touring the galaxy. She breaks away from her group and meets two humans from Croydon, England. It also involves aliens from another galaxy that were sent to Earth to prepare for a mysterious rite of passage. Spacey and mysterious, it’s the perfect combination!

Punk music and aliens definitely inspired the How to Talk to Girls at Parties cast

The film stars Elle Fanning, Alex Sharp, Nicole Kidman, Ruth Wilson, and Matt Lucas. They all looked stunning at the festival. It’s easy to see how the story and the movie influenced their look. Mitchel wore a fire-engine red jacket with checkered pants, and costume designer Sandy Powell looked super futuristic with bright orange hair and a light blue suit.

It’s easy to see how the 70’s punk movement blending with aliens gives us the perfect look that is out of this world! The movie doesn’t have an exact release date for the United States, but we know it’s sometime this year. We’re ready to get our punk-glam on!
