Vetements x Comme des Garçons

From what may be the year’s most ubiquitous fashion label comes a capsule sweater collection with a message. High-end clothing brand Vetements released an LGBTQ tribute collab with Japanese label Comme des Garçons, and the sweater collection is selling out fast.

The capsule collection includes three gay pride-themed garments, necessary in a year when gay and trans rights faced major attacks. There’s a rainbow-striped sweater; a purple sweater with a double-sided battle axe across the center (a symbol of lesbian strength and pride); and a black-blue-and-white striped “Fetish” sweater with a red heart near the right shoulder, a nod to the leather pride flag, which celebrates bondage, domination, and S&M cultures.

Here’s the gay pride sweater.

And last but not least, the kink pride sweater.

You can purchase any of the pride sweaters here, for $625 each (Yes, an extremely steep price. But would you expect anything less from the company famed for its $800 hoodie?).

Vetements — beloved by celebrities such as Selena GomezRihanna, Kanye West, and Kylie Jenner — and Comme des Garçons are selling the sweaters exclusively through Dover Street Market online and at its New York, London, and Tokyo brick-and-mortar locations. The “Fetish” sweater is selling out the fastest, with just x-small sizes left on the Dover Street Market website.

The collection also includes three button-down, striped shirts for women cut a bit wider than the typical women’s collared shirt, a nod, perhaps, to the rise of more androgynous clothing labelssuch as Wildfang — that cater to queer and gender-nonconforming folks.

If ever there was a time to wear your politics on your sleeve — literally — this is it!
