If you’re looking to liven up your spring wardrobe, we’ve got everything you need by way of accessories. California-based jewelry brand 31 Bits just released its “Classics” collection, and we’re super excited about it — and not just because everything in the collection is to die for. We love 31 Bits most because it’s a brand that gives back.
The company pays and treats its artisans — employed in Uganda and Bali — fairly, and also operates under a development model in which artisans, once employed, can graduate from its program and go on to run their own businesses, offering a sustainable way for workers to contribute to their communities. As 31 Bits rep Alli Talley put it:
Currently, 31 Bits employs 80 female artisans in Uganda, and six male artists in Bali. There’s even a wait list to join the program! And graduates of 31 Bits have gone on to open up their own small shops, hair salons, and restaurants in their communities. As Talley explained of the program:
We love that 31 Bits doesn’t just give their artisans the compensation they deserve for their work, but endeavors to help people grow and become independent business owners in their communities.
The program in Bali just launched a year ago, and so is still growing and evolving, so we’re so excited to see 31 Bits continue to expand — and to see what they come out with next! For now, we’ll be buying pretty much everything from the new collection.
