Those Saint Laurent glitter boots cost more than some cars — and there's already a waitlist for them
From the second those crystal confections set foot on the runway, we knew the Saint Laurent glitter boots were going to be a ~smash~ hit. C’mon, just look at them: They’re pure footwear perfection! But being both YSL and the coolest accessory at Paris Fashion Week this season, we knew these babies wouldn’t come cheap. And cheap they most certainly are not, ringing in at a hefty $10,000 a pop.
Oh, but don’t pull out your (most likely *imaginary*) black cards just yet. Because these yet-to-be-released beauties have already racked up hefty waiting lists at both Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodmans, according to WWD.
Of course, these booted beauties are really more works of art than mere footwear. Which kind of helps us swallow the exorbitant price tag. They are handcrafted and covered in upwards of 3,000 rhinestones per shoe (singular), after all.
Hailing from Anthony Vaccarello’s second collection for Saint Laurent, the glitter boots proved one of (if not the) biggest hits from the show. As in, Rihanna’s already taken home her pair ahead of the waitlist, and many celebs are bound to follow suit.
Vaccarrello’s short time as creative director of YSL has been met with great interest, as the former Versus Versace mastermind took over for the famed Hedi Slimane. Seeing as Slimane spurred the creative renaissance that’s responsible for the brand’s reclaimed superstar status today, it’s safe to say Vaccarrello’s had pretty big shoes to fill. And apparently, for the 27-year-old designer, that translated literally here with the creation of these big-budget beauties.
Okay, so we won’t be getting our hands on these YSL kicks anytime soon. But, we’re still looking forward to the more cost-effective versions these babies will no doubt inspire. Perhaps a Topshop or H&M versions are in our future? Here’s to hoping!
