Ruth Negga played the part of an ethereal empress in her most recent red carpet look
At a recent red carpet event, actress Ruth Negga stunned in a Valentino dress worthy of an empress. The Loving star showed up at the 16th annual AARP The Magazine’s Movies For Grownups Awards (say that 10 times fast) looking like ethereal royalty in her long-sleeved Valentino frock.
According to the Daily Mail, this particular award ceremony honors entertainers and industry folks over the age of 50, as well as films with subject matter that appeal to the senior demographic. Ruth’s film Loving, about a real-life couple fighting anti-miscegenation laws in the 1960s, fits that criteria and was awarded Best Picture. Ruth accepted the award on behalf of the cast and crew, and the delicate hearts on her dress certainly proclaimed the theme of love.
The Ethiopian-Irish actress is always perfectly put-together with her ladylike, slightly vintage style. Whether she’s gracing the cover of the January issue of Vogue or donning a dress embroidered with snakes on another red carpet, she’s killing it! Ruth works with stylist Karla Welch, who’s always sharing pics of the actress on her Instagram.
This particular dress came from the Valentino Pre-Fall 2017 collection. The season featured many vaguely Shakespearean styles — perfect for Ruth who’s done her share of British theatre.
The intricately detailed, cream-colored dress is covered in sequined vines, hearts, and flowers. A Peter Pan collar and wispy bow at the neck keep the demure vibe going. Ruth rocks pretty, understated makeup with a bit of shimmer, rose lip, and strong brow. Her gamine hairstyle and retro round earrings keep the focus on the dress.
Look at these gorgeous glittered lids!
We’re massive fans of Ruth, and we’re eagerly anticipating her next awards show looks, as she makes the rounds (and collects way more awards, hopefully!) this season.
