Close your eyes. Imagine you’re lying on a rock on the beach. You look up and suddenly you see her — a mermaid! Or at least, that’s what it looks like, until you see she’s actually walking toward you. What is she wearing? Probably something glamorous, like the seafoam green Elie Saab number that Rachel McAdams wore to attend the Disobedience cocktail party at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Part lingerie, part “mermaid who grew legs,” Rachel’s look reminds us that the ocean is the ultimate muse.

There’s a lot going on with this dress, but thankfully, it doesn’t feel overwhelming. This lacy dress features layers of ruffles, a sheer bodice, a high waist, and a sweet bow to top it all off. Thanks to the opaque paneling, and Rachel’s classic hair and makeup, the gown still looks grown-up and elegant.

It truly seems like the kind of piece that a mermaid would give anything (like her voice) to wear.

We love that the seafoam color adds a soft effect to the dress, while the sheer lace still makes it look sultry. And of course, Rachel brings her own style to the story. With her honey-colored hair in loose curls, a slight smokey eye, and a deep red lip, she lends some edge to this sticky-sweet ensemble.

This dress makes Rachel look like she just washed up on shore, like a modern-day Aphrodite, and we can’t get enough.
