Nicki Minaj always gives us life. Her over-the-top outfits always leave us not only wanting more, but anticipating her next style moves and inspired to take more fashion risks while we’re waiting. And her look for the 2017 Met Gala is no different. Nicki looks like a vampire queen, and her outfit pays homage to the influence of designer Rei Kawakubo and her brand Comme des Garçons. The avant-garde fashion house is known for its eccentric looks, so Nicki dressed perfectly for the occasion.
Clad in black hot pants and a cinched black floor-length robe featuring scarlet accents, all custom made by H&M, Nicki looks like the head vampire in charge, and someone you don’t want to mess with.
Nicki’s robe features florets, beading, and sheer paneling. Oh, and it acts as a makeshift shirt! She showed off her legs and sky-high platform shoes all while sticking to the color palette Rei’s known for working with. The musician wore her long hair pin-straight, and finished off her ensemble with a bold cat eye and ombré cherry red lips.
Our favorite part of this gothic package? The obi belt that Nicki is wearing with Rei Kawakubo’s face on it! Nicki is officially the coolest vampire queen we know.
