Don’t you hate it when you have to go to a red carpet event but you’re just too comfy in your sports bra? Same here. But Katy Perry might be setting a trend that we couldn’t love more. Perry wore a sports bra to a nighttime event and is paving the way for lazy girls across the world.

Perry attended the celebration of Chanel’s Gabrielle Bag hosted by Caroline De Maigret and Pharrell Williams on Thursday night. She wore a simple black sports bra under a sheer lace shirt. And to make the whole outfit even more comfy, Perry wore a pair of silky track pants and a puffer jacket.

To celebrate the debut of the Gabrielle bag, Perry toted her own black-and-white Gabrielle purse.

But let’s get back to the sports bra, because that’s a trend we’d like to get on. Perry’s looks like it might be faux leather, which makes it a little bit fancier than your run-of-the-treadmill sports bra (you see what we did there?).

So with that in mind, we went on a search for fancy sports bras that could be worn to any red carpet affair — or out to drinks with friends on a Friday night. Same thing.

This low-impact mesh and faux leather bra ($8.99) from Forever 21 would look awesome under a mesh t-shirt or paired with some high-waisted shorts and worn under a leather jacket.

This Forever 21 black sports bra with cutout detailing down the front ($14.90) is a great alternative for a crop top. Pair it with a fuzzy faux fur coat and you’ll look edgy and trendy, all while feeling super comfy.

Finally, this H&M push-up sports bra ($29.99) has a similar texture to Perry’s. The flatter v-neck would look great under a sheer top, and the fact that it’s push-up makes it a little less casual than your average gym-wear.

If Katy Perry can wear a sports bra to a Chanel party, then we can certainly wear a sports bra to a night out! Why be uncomfortable if you don’t have to? Now, where can we find some fashionable pajama pants…
