The little black dress (or LBD, as it’s commonly known) is a classic staple in any closet. The right LBD can make you look stunning, stylish, and sophisticated no matter the event. Ireland Baldwin showed off her take on the LBD this weekend while attending a party for Dolce and Gabbana, and offered a master class in modernizing the go-to frock.

The model rocked a lacy black dress that we’d love to have in our closet — and that reminds us of one of our favorite ladies of the ’80s, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The bad news is, the dress, which was designed by Dolce and Gabbana, isn’t available for purchase. And if you want a similar dress by D&G, get ready to drop some serious cash — some of the brand’s similar frocks cost more than $4,000.

The good news? You can imitate Baldwin’s LBD style without emptying your bank account — we’ll help!

Here’s Baldwin’s take on the LBD.

And here’s a shot of Elvira, just because we all need more of this woman in our lives.

Now back to Ireland’s style! Black lace is definitely in; there’s no shortage of stores with sexy frocks in those glorious gothic styles. So how do you replicate Baldwin’s elegant look? Look for styles that are sleek, chic, and simple. You can go with long sleeves if you keep the length short, the way Baldwin did.

Want to go for a style that’s longer than Baldwin’s? Choose one with long sleeves and a flowing skirt for a truly Elvira-esque look.

Backless is another great option that combines demure with jaw-dropping.

Lulu's

Baldwin’s dress is gorgeous, but she didn’t forget to accessorize her outfit; the model wore nude sandals that tied together her overall ensemble, without distracting from her stunning dress. If you’re borrowing Baldwin’s style, look for shoes that complement your outfit.
