The old adage “great minds think alike” proves true once more, with Hillary Scott and Selena Gomez opting for the same statement-making, plunging number. And while the two sported the checkered confection for two very different occasions, it made the same jaw-dropping-good impact in both instances.
Last night, Hillary donned her version of the Proenza Schouler frock at the 2017 ACM Awards. Opting for an eye-catching, red-and-cobalt color combo, the cut-out crepe dress embodied all the edginess and elegance of the country music starlet in one fell swoop. With long raglan sleeves and a curved ruffle skirt, the dress was by no means what one typically sees at the ACMs. In our opinion, it was ~better.~ To top it all off, Hillary selected a gorgeous pair of David Webb emerald earrings and strappy Kurt Geiger sandals to match.
Selena’s hand-tie Proenza Schouler frock had a few key difference, namely the black-and-white color palette and the cropped sleeves. Worn last month while promoting her new Netflix show, 13 Reasons Why, the 24-year-old’s daytime twist on this Spring 2016 design gave off a slightly more sultry vibe with three peek-a-boo cutouts that made the starlet look fierce as hell. Selena kept the styling to a minimum here, letting her sleek dark tresses flow freely and slipping into a pair of strappy peep-toes heels.
If we had to choose who wore it better, well, we’d have to respectfully decline to answer the question. Because these two looks are just so stunning, they’re both equally out-of-this world.
