Emma Watson's latest dress looks like pages from a storybook we want to read ASAP
She began her career as our favorite know-it-all witch, Hermione Granger. Now she’s gracing the big screen as the knowledgeable Belle in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast. It’s safe to say that actress Emma Watson is no stranger to the world of magic and fantasy. At Monday’s 2017 Elle Style Awards, she brought that magic off the screen and into reality in the form of a whimsical illustrated gown. We know that Watson’s storybook dress is filled with wonder and we want to read it ASAP.
The dress is from Christian Dior’s Spring/Summer 2017 Haute Couture collection. It’s a white strapless silk taffeta gown called “Tarot.” It’s zodiac and nature-inspired illustrations are hand-painted and embroidered.
It looks like a Renaissance illuminated text and we are all about it.
Below you can see the scales representing Libra matched with hands holding a sword. Swords are the symbol for change, force, ambition, and conflict in Tarot decks.
The muted colors and intricate details of the work make us think of fairytale princesses and royal balls.
Throw this feather tiara on her and Watson would look ready to rule a faraway kingdom filled with fairies and dragons.
If you’re loving this gown as much as we are, then you’ll die over the rest of the Dior collection. Italian fashion designer Maria Grazia Chiuri paired up with Dior to come up with this fantastical show. It’s based off of the whimsy of nature and the darker side of fantasy.
Dior’s Ready-To-Wear Spring/Summer 2017 collection draws inspiration from the mysterious side of life as well. These looks are phenomenal.
And Watson has dabbled in the Ready-To-Wear Dior as well.
File these Dior collections under “things we are saving up for.” The fact that Emma Watson loves mystical and witchy clothes as much as we do makes us love her even more!
