Bizarre and unpredictable weather calls for an unconventional approach to dressing, and that’s exactly what Emma Stone in a printed maxi dress provided — to excellent effect — at a screening of her new film, La La Land, in Los Angeles last night.

Wearing a printed halter dress from New Jersey-born designer Rosie Assoulin’s spring/summer 2017 collection — a summer dress, to be sure — Emma transformed the look for fall with a pair of pointy-toe nude pumps and a jacket, which she wore on and off throughout the evening. The dress was first shown in September in New York as part of a beach-themed presentation by Assoulin. Oh, the irony!

Check out the dress topped off with a black jacket (and Emma posing with fellow actress Laura Dern, who attended the screening).

So cute!

The designer, beloved by the likes of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o, said she wanted to show a light-hearted, beachy collection during a dark social time to bring a bit of fun and lightness to the fashion world.
