Bizarre and unpredictable weather calls for an unconventional approach to dressing, and that’s exactly what Emma Stone in a printed maxi dress provided — to excellent effect — at a screening of her new filmLa La Land, in Los Angeles last night.

Wearing a printed halter dress from New Jersey-born designer Rosie Assoulin’s spring/summer 2017 collection — a summer dress, to be sure — Emma transformed the look for fall with a pair of pointy-toe nude pumps and a jacket, which she wore on and off throughout the evening. The dress was first shown in September in New York as part of a beach-themed presentation by Assoulin. Oh, the irony!

So cute!

The designer, beloved by the likes of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o, said she wanted to show a light-hearted, beachy collection during a dark social time to bring a bit of fun and lightness to the fashion world.

“It’s like Mrs. Obama said,”Assoulin told Vogue in a September interview about her collection, “‘When they go low, we go high.'”

The printed maxi dress certainly lit up the red carpet on Emma Stone, and now has us daydreaming about brighter days and new ways to transform our summer dresses for cooler weather!
