Emma Roberts may have just brought back a trend that we never thought we’d see again — the lace-up shirt. Even though it’s a fashion piece that was, for the most part, an unfortunate addition to the closets of many teenage girls in the early 2000s, Roberts is rocking her shirt in a way that makes us think this could be a resurfacing trend.

Remember lace-up everything? Laces were haute couture back then, but also risky. Because just as easily as they can be tied, laces can be untied. But it was a comfortable way of looking super cute and hip (or at least we thought so at the time). Jeans that had laces instead of a button and a zipper made low-cut pants even LOWER, and that’s exactly what we wanted out of life in the early 2000s. And who knows? Maybe it’ll be a thing in the 2010s (still feels weird saying “2010s”).

Since Roberts is a queen of fashion, we’re going to trust that she knows that she’s doing.
