This dog designer dressed high-fashion pups in Comme des Garçons in honor of the Met Gala
Once upon a time, there were two little New York City chihuahuas named Bogie and Kimba who were living their best lives dressing up in cool dog designer threads. And for the Met Gala, they got to live out every haute couture canine’s fantasy: getting custom-made getups for the occasion!
Okay, seriously, this may qualify as the most adorable high fashion statement we’ve ever seen. In honor of the 2017 Met Gala and its Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons theme, pet couturier Anthony Rubio whipped up three custom canine looks inspired by the revered fashion house. And as a respected designer himself with more than 20 years in the business, Rubio’s canine confections are nothing short of paw-fection.
Just look at these masterful designs for yourselves, people. Woof, woof!
The amount of detail here is impeccable. Our human clothes can’t even compare!
“As a tribute to Rei Kawakubo being honored by the Met Gala, I decided to recreate in my signature canine creations, three ensembles as done by the genius for her brand Comme des Garçons or as the true fans call it CdG,” Rubio wrote on his website.
Oh, and don’t think this is the first time Rubio’s lucky pups have gotten to try out their own Met Gala-inspired getups — it’s not. Just look at little Kimba rocks Sarah Jessica Parker’s feisty headpiece from the 2015 gala!
Clearly, Mr. Rubio’s skill set is beyond compare. And we love his dedication to recreating epic Met Ball-inspired looks for the pups.
It’s basically like the Puppybowl-version of the Met Gala, and we totally *dig* it!
