Watch out, modeling world, because here comes Diplo! The heartthrob DJ is trading in turntables for runways, as he’s just signed on with a ~major~ modeling agency. Of course, it’s hardly surprising that the Grammy-winning musician would tack on “model” to his already impressive resume, considering the fact that he’s consistently one of GQ‘s best-dressed dudes on the planet. Oh, and there’s also the fact that he’s *steaming hot.*
“With the worlds of fashion, music and wider visual culture growing closer, I want to explore a new world of creativity and am thrilled to sign with Next Management who understand what I represent and where I want to be,” Diplo told WWD.
Officially lending the aesthetically pleasing talents of his rock-hard abs and sculpted bone structure to Next Models, Diplo’s a shoe-in for some major men’s campaigns. Given his natural best-dressed proclivities paired with his 3.5 million Instagram followers, the 38-year-old is a natural fit with Next.
“The symbiosis between Diplo’s music and visual projects meant his signing with Next Management was inevitable,” the agency told WWD.
What’s more, Next’s founder Faith Kates expressed that the agency’s enthusiasm to partner with the world-class musician is a direct result of his positive cultural impact across the globe.
“We, at Next Management, have a huge appreciation for those who use their gifts to affect culture in a positive way,” Kates told WWD. “As fashion is representative of the collision of all pop cultures, we are…confident that Diplo’s insight into culture and prowess in music will resonate with brands.”
Now, now, the real question is…who’s billboards might Diplo’s abs grace first? Perhaps Dior Homme? Or Alessandro Michele’s out-of-this-world Gucci? Maybe even a little Chanel action? We’ll just have to wait and see!
