Okay, since it’s officially fall, our whole outlook on fashion is about to change. Well, at least a little. While we can wear florals every day, any season, and at any time, once fall hits, we’re left longing for sweet patterns with deep, dark backgrounds. Floral on black feels especially appropriate for the season, especially with bursts of autumn hues like red and burnt orange. Take it from Jennifer Lawrence, whose gothic, lingerie-inspired dress is inspiring us to wear our favorite florals for fall.

The actress wore this dress to the official Academy screening of Mother!, and we applaud her because this was a look.

Want to get into the fall mood while still feeling like the queen you are? Why not try a ’90s-style slip dress in a floral print? We love Jennifer’s take on the trend. With its sheer lace detailing, nipped waist, and tulip hem, not to mention the beautiful, macabre floral, this is a dress we’d wear every day if we could.

We love the shining silky fabric as well, which helps make Jennifer’s piece seem even more elegant.

If there’s one thing we really appreciate about Jennifer’s style, it’s that she always look laid-back, yet chic. Yes, this dress makes a statement thanks to its striking pattern, but it’s not overdone.

Jennifer also wore her hair in loose waves, and for makeup, opted for a subtle bronzed eye and nude peach lip. She looks put-together but casual, and that’s why we admire her and her style so much. Long live “chic but comfortable.”
