When we heard American Apparel was closing down, our hearts dropped out of our legging-clad bodies. Was this it — the end of an era? An end of the era? Where else could we go for jelly sandals, high-waisted metallic disco pants, and velvet blazers in one convenient location?

American Apparel ending meant that the days of accessible non-Yeezy basics were over. But now, our hope is rekindled because Gildan Activewear, Inc., the company that bought American Apparel, has announced they’re relaunching the brand’s online store. Is this the hope we’ve been looking for?

While we’re extremely hype to not see American Apparel go, we can’t help but wonder: What’s next?

After all, the brand was bought out, so there’s a possibility it won’t be the same one we know and love. However, according to Business of Fashion, chief executive of Gildan, Glenn Chamandy, said that the new website will open over the course of the next two weeks. It will carry some of the company’s signature products, including jeans. The phrase “reenergize” was also thrown around.

If you’ve been wondering if your favorite merch will still be printed on American Apparel classics, then you don’t have to worry. Chamandy said that the brand is still selling pieces to wholesalers who can customize them.

We’re glad we’ll still be able to rock our best basics, and we’re crossing our fingers that our favorite pieces will make it into the new online store.
