Athleisure (noun): is “a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as during work, casual or social occasions.” Thanks Wikipedia, for putting a word to what we just assume is everyone’s lazy brunch dress code. Bella Hadid breezily strolled the streets in the East Village on Monday wearing an all-black outfit consisting of a Victoria’s Secret sports bra (hi, Hadid abs. Thanks so much for reminding us of you three days before Thanksgiving), leggings, fashion sneakers and a long length hoodie. Could it be that Bella was sighted just as she was leaving the gym, you ask? Probs not, judging by the jewelry and slicked-back bun (our neat buns look like popsicles melting on the sidewalk after the gym, let’s be honest), this is casual athleisure at its finest. Let’s dissect.

Leave it to Bella to model a sports bra in 40 degree weather with or without a runway.

There she goes! Running errands sans bulky bags or purses, just a typical New Yorker out and about on a Monday morning. Except she’s a 20-year-old superstar who just signed with Nike (don’t tell Victoria Sport!) to wear their sports gear in what’s bound to be a seriously sexy campaign.

Bella stepped out with no Gigi or other famous entourage in sight, with naked nails and some clear acrylic aviator frames to perhaps shield her identity. She slicked her famously dark tresses back into a tight bun and stuck with some simple gold jewelry (that personalized name necklace is Christmas-list inspo) to jazz up the otherwise gym-ready look.

One important factor for nailing the athleisure trend without feeling like you’re running through the streets in your underwear — cover that tush! Bella threw on a long-layer hoodie to make sure her derriere is aptly covered, which, when zipped up, probably could pass as a chic slouchy dress. Leggings-as-pants rule #1: never trust legging material to fully cover your assets. What looks opaque indoors becomes a sheer layer of nothingness and a full display of your underthings once you’re out running errands. Unless, of course, it’s a peek-a-boo panties that you’re going for.

Final thoughts: she nails it. But of course she does, she’s Bella Hadid. (Cameo in the above pic by a dude that is pretty much all of us.)
