Things are not always as they seem. And sometimes that’s what makes them so fun! Case in point: Shapeshifting dresses that seem more like alchemy than fashion. Alexis Bledel’s midi dress that’s actually composed of rainbow embellishments is one case of the head-turning looks we can’t get enough of.

Alexis wore the Cushnie et Ochs shift dress to the premiere of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale and proved that rainbow goth is actually a thing. Just like how the holographic and oil slick trend had major moments (and still are having major moments), this dress is the grown up version of that — fancy enough for a cocktail party or movie premiere.

The dress looks like ice cream sprinkles but, you know, if they were goth.

And although the colors are bright and bold once you notice them (or zoom in), Alexis still chose to take the look to the next level, thanks to her striking accessories.

You know the old rule that you’re supposed to match your shoes and your bag? We think that’s kind of boring. So of course, we love that Alexis chose a soft yellow pair of Schutz sandals and a robin’s egg clutch to accent her dress. With a pair of simple silver earrings and her long hair blowing in the wind, Alexis looks sweet as can be.

Just check out those orange nails! No detail is too small for Alexis to pay attention to. Honestly, we love the bright-on-bright look, and this color combination has us thinking about a warm summer day when the sun’s out and the lemonade is unlimited.

As for this blue bag and the same tangerine nail polish, they pull everything together.

Seeing this dress up close makes it a million times better. After all, how could you not love a sea of rainbow sequins?!
