The annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art gives celebrities (and their stylists) a chance to let their imaginations run wild on the red carpet. This year, the Met Ball connected fashion and tech with the theme “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.”
Claire Danes took the high-tech theme quite literally by showing up in a Zac Posen ballgown that lit up with L.E.D. lights while Mindy Kaling carried a color-changing clutch. Kendall Jenner wore a laser-cut, velvet Versace gown while Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom took the theme in a more cheeky direction — by accessorizing with matching Tamagotchis. Then there were stars like Emma Roberts and Lorde who chose to stray from the theme by wearing festival-inspired and pastel looks, respectively.
