“Fantastic Beasts” is casting teenage Dumbledore, wants to prove he was a babe at every age

Attention British teen actors: YOU could be the next (teenage) Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore. Pottermore just announced that an open casting call is being held to fill the roles of a young Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelweld, Newt Scamander, and Leta Lestrange in the next installment of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The casting call is looking for actors aged 16-18 to portray the teenage Dumbledore and Grindelward, and ones aged 13-16 to play Newt, Leta, and a ~new~ character named Sebastian. This means we’ll be seeing some *serious* flashbacks in the upcoming Fantastic Beasts sequel — including (hopefully) events that lead to Newt’s (Eddie Redmayne) expulsion from Hogwarts and the demise of Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s friendship.

Johnny Depp already made his debut as Grindelwald at the very end of Fantastic Beasts — revealing that Colin Farrell’s Percival Graves was a disguise — and now Jude Law is set to begin his turn as a younger Dumbledore in the sequel. We’re already interested in seeing Law portray the half-moon spectacle-wearing future Hogwarts Headmaster, and now we can’t wait to meet TWO new Dumbledores (the late Richard Harris and Michael Gambon played the headmaster in the original Harry Potter films).

Based on what Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter have set up, we have a feeling that the Fantastic Beasts sequel is going to be a wild rideFantastic Beasts briefly introduced Leta Lestrange as a character, with Zoë Kravitz as the witch appearing in a photo seen by Legilimens Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), who is able to deduce that Lestrange was important to Newt but that, somehow, things went wrong between the two of them.

Additionally, Harry Potter and the Dealthy Hallows introduces the friendship between Dumbledore and the evil Grindelwald as Harry learns that he didn’t know a lot about his late mentor — like, that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had been best friends before an accident, which killed Dumbledore’s sister Ariana, and ended their friendship.

We’re really curious about what to expect from the Fantastic Beasts sequel. The first film definitely had us rethinking our original theories pertaining to certain Harry Potter events, and frankly, we *really* want to see Newt and Dumbledore and the rest of Newt’s American friends team up to take Grindelwald down.
