Fall TV’s Coolest Casting Announcements (So Far)
It’s comforting to know that when summer ends, Fall TV will be waiting with open arms to catch us. And if the latest casting news is any indication, next season’s line-up will be jam-packed with familiar faces. With production starting up shortly, here are a few recent, surprising casting choices that will definitely keep us glued to our TV sets.
Courtney Love on Sons of Anarchy
It’s happening! Courtney will be starring on a few episodes of the hit show, playing Ms. Harrison, the “straight-shooting” preschool teacher of Jax’s eldest son, Abel. The casting choice is a bold one. While Courtney is best known for her rock star status and questionable tweets, she was fantastic in The People vs. Larry Flynt and Man on the Moon back in the ’90s.
Wes Bentley on American Horror Story: Freak Show
Whenever I think of Wes, I think of him eerily holding up a camera and reminding me of the beauty in a plastic bag, floating in the wind. While he’s already a well-established actor, it’s possible that his famous American Beauty role might have persuaded the crew to hire him as Eddie, a dark tormentor from Kathy Bates’ past who is hell-bent on revenge. He’ll be on two episodes airing close to Halloween.
Sean Hayes on The Millers
While it’s a bummer that Sean Saves The World was cancelled after only 15 episodes, it’s nice that the very funny Sean Hayes will get a chance to reunite with his Will & Grace director James Burrows on his newest show. Sean will actually be a series regular this season, alongside co-stars Will Arnett, Beau Bridges, and Margot Martindale.
Miss J. Alexander on America’s Next Top Model
Let’s all give a toast to the production staff of America’s Next Top Model for acknowledging the fact that getting rid of Mr. Jay and Miss J a few seasons ago was a terrible, terrible move. While it’s unclear as to whether or not Mr. Jay will be showing his (glorious) face this season, it’s comforting to know that the brand new cast will be gaining some runway knowledge from the legendary runway diva extraordinaire.
Elizabeth Mitchell on Once Upon a Time
Maybe you watch Once Upon a Time regularly, or maybe it’s just a guilty pleasure. But if you’re familiar with LOST, you might recognize someone on this show’s upcoming season. Elizabeth won’t be playing a Frozen sister, but her Season four arc lists her as a “possibly malevolent” character with ties to Elsa and Anna. And speaking of Elsa, she’ll be played by Fringe alum Georgina Haig.
Jennifer Love Hewitt on Criminal Minds
Jennifer Love Hewitt really deserves a TV show that lasts more than a few seasons. So joining Criminal Minds, a series with a proven track record with viewers, is a solid move. Jennifer will appear in the tenth season as a series regular, playing Kate Callahan, a seasoned undercover agent whose work at the FBI landed her a coveted position with the Behavioral Analysis Unit.
Lorraine Toussaint on Forever
If you’re a fan of Orange Is The New Black, you’ve loved to hate Lorraine Toussaint this season. She played the evil Vee, who bullied Red and made Taystee turn against her best friend. Lorraine’s new gig on the fall drama Forever will be as a series regular. She’ll be playing Lt. Joanna Reece, a “weathered,” 50-something police vet who’s “seen it all.” I’d make a quip about the finale of Orange Is The New Black right now, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who still has yet to finish up the season. (To put it mildly, there’s definitely something Vee didn’t see.)
