8 Fall Drinks That Will Get You Psyched for Cold Weather
It’s fall. Let’s just deal with it. Actually, let’s celebrate all it has to offer—warm sweaters, boots, scarves, pumpkins, and hot, cozy drinks. Nothing compliments cold weather like a warm cup o’ something delicious. I’m not really sure what it is about fall drinks that get us in the cold weather/holiday spirit, but they just do. We don’t need to understand it, we just need to live it. With that in mind, here are 8 soul-warming drinks that will mentally arm you for cold weather.
1. Pumpkin Spice Latte
Starbucks’ self-proclaimed official beverage of fall is like the McRib of the caffeinated-beverage world. People have been waiting forever for its return and that day has come! Starbucks even made an official Twitter handle for the PSL, as it is lovingly referred to by avid fans, @TheRealPSL.
2. Spiced Apple Cider
Thinking about apple cider takes me directly to hay rides and pumpkin patches, and it’s a thought I never want to leave my mind. Apple cider is a great way to get the kids excited about colder weather (not that they need another reason), and it’s pretty healthy (the apple part of it). Whether it’s served hot, warm or cold—it’s all cozy and delicious.
3. Pumpkin Pie Smoothie
They had me at smoothie. And at pumpkin pie. Pumpkins have so many health benefits (full of antioxidants, dietary fiber and vitamins) and are really low in calories. So, if you’re already a smoothie drinker, or if you want to be a smoothie drinker, check out this recipe for the best smoothie you’ve ever had (if you’re into healthy things that taste like delicious dessert).
4. Hot Chocolate
Nothing says, “I’m ready for you, cold weather” like a good ol’ fashioned cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for added fall flavor, and enjoy the chocolate-y warmth of your childhood in a mug.
5. Mulled Cider
Want Christmas to come early at your house? Or at least the smell of Christmas? Make mulled cider. Some people like to add wine or rum, and that’s totally optional (but encouraged).
6. Caramel Apple Martini
You can’t do fall without caramel apples. And you can’t do a martini without alcohol. These are just the basic rules of life. Check out this caramel apple martini recipe. It’s liquid dessert.
7. Peppermint Tea
You can probably find peppermint tea anywhere you can find regular tea. It’s good for digestion and good for your taste buds. If you DIY, your house will smell like it just brushed its teeth.
8. Cinnamon Mocha Cappuccino
If you like cinnamon, mocha, cappuccinos, and happiness, and if you happen to live near a Coffee Bean, you must try this. And then bring me one too, please.
