Facebook just made their Messenger app way better
Facebook has some more tricks up their sleeve. Until now, you’ve only been able to make calls between you and one other person. They announced yesterday that this is about to change. Facebook is adding a group call feature to their iOs and Android Messenger app — for free.
All you have to do is go to a group message you’ve got going in your app. At the top right hand corner you’ll see a phone icon that was never there before. Click on it.
Then, you’ll see this screen, which allows you to select which people to bring into the call. Check off however many you want (you can include up to 50, which I can’t imagine you would want anymore than that) and click “Start Group Call.”
This new feature is great for us, but it’s even better for Facebook. This puts them into even deeper competition with the likes of Skype and Google Hangouts. All they need to do next is make video call available for groups because right now it’s still only made for two. Something tells us that change is right around the corner, too, though.
