Facebook is looking to change the way our comments look

Attention all social media app users! Prepare yourselves to see some changes on your Facebook app in the upcoming future. Word on the street is that Facebook is giving their comments section a trial makeover. Changes to social media app formatting always causes a kerfuffle amongst the human race, and it takes us a few days to acclimate. But, Facebook’s new design feature will actually look very familiar.

According to BuzzFeed News, Facebook will be styling their comments section to look like text or messaging threads. A Facebook spokesperson told BuzzFeed News,

"We’re testing multiple design updates in News Feed, including a more conversational way to comment on posts."

So rather than seeing your comments appear in the standard boxes, they will appear in light gray speech bubbles instead.

But if you’re still wary about the in-app changes, rest assured that this new format is only a test. The Facebook spokesperson explained that the company is always working on ways to make the site more visually and conversationally engaging.

Facebook will also be experimenting with News Feed updates as well.

Facebook CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg writes in his manifesto that Facebook is now focusing on…

"... developing the social infrastructure for community — for supporting us, for keeping us safe, for informing us, for civic engagement, and for inclusion of all."

Creating a more conversational platform to do so is a perfect first step in starting communal dialogue. Like all changes to our social media apps, the change might be a bit jarring at first. But in the name of creating a better environment for sharing opinions and facts, we support this change wholeheartedly!
