“Ex Machina” star Sonoya Mizuno jumps on board with the “Crazy Rich Asians” cast

The fantastic cast for Crazy Rich Asians is slowly but surely being assembled. So far we’ve got Constance Wu, Michelle Yeoh, and newcomer Henry Golding. The latest to join Crazy Rich Asians is Sonoya Mizuno, the Ex Machina actress who grabbed our attention as a beautiful, mysterious robot in the psychological thriller that also starred Alicia Vikander and Domhnall Gleeson. We can’t wait to see her alongside the other Asian actors in the film adaptation of the novel by the same name.

Mizuno is a Japanese-born British actress and model who also played the role of Caitlin, Emma Stone’s roommate, in La La Land. In Crazy Rich Asians, Mizuno is set to play Araminta, Nick’s (Golding) best friend Colin’s fiancé who is a fashion icon in Singapore. We can’t wait to see her outfit choices.

It seems like Mizuno’s career is going nowhere but up. She’s also set to play in an upcoming sci-fi movie called Annihilation, starring Natalie Portman. It’s going to be directed by Alex Garland, the person behind the camera for Ex Machina. We don’t blame him for wanting to work with her again. How could you ever forget her dance with Oscar Isaac?

It was arguably the best part of the whole movie. It’s not surprising considering the fact that Mizuno has a background in ballet.

We’re looking forward to an all-Asian cast in Crazy Rich Asians, especially when you think about how little we get to see Asian stars on the big screen. It’s about time we get a little more Asian representation happening in Hollywood.
