Please pass the tissues — Netflix canceled *another* show after one season, and RIP

Netflix has big plans to crank out literally hundreds of new original shows and specials this year, which seems like a lot, but when you consider how many shows the streaming platform seems to be axing, it makes a little more sense. The latest Netflix series to get dropped? Drumroll, please: It’s Everything Sucks!

The comedy about the kids in a 1996 high school A.V. club and drama club in Oregon has officially been canceled after just one season, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Starring Peyton Kennedy, Sydney Sweeney, Elijah Stevenson, Quinn Liebling, Patch Darragh, Claudine Mboligikpelani Nako, Jahi Winston, and Rio Mangini, Everything Sucks! only debuted in February, and while it didn’t score a major mainstream following like some of Netflix’s other retro coming-of-age stories (i.e. Stranger Things), it was praised for its portrayal of LGBT teens and had a 69 percent critics’ rating and 89 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

As an extra bummer for fans, the first season ended with a cliffhanger, and now it looks like we’ll never find out what happens.

The cancellation comes after a handful of other Netflix shows recently got cut.

Those shows include Disjointed, Gypsy, the hilarious Lady Dynamite starring Maria Bamford, and Judd Apatow’s Love. In the past, passionate fans like devotees of Sense8 have successfully petitioned to get their beloved shows revived for finale specials. In this case, though, there’s no sign yet of Everything Sucks!‘s loose ends being tied up. (Though, we wouldn’t be surprised if fan petitions popped up soon…)

With so many new shows being developed at Netflix, it was probably inevitable that a few existing series would get the boot, but that doesn’t make it hurt any less. Now, if you could please pass the tissues (like, a full box of them), and respect our needs during this very difficult time in our lives.
