Everything we know about the On the Run II tour based on the most recent performances

Last night, June 6th, Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s On the Run II tour kicked off in Cardiff, U.K. after months of anticipation from fans. We may not have been there in person, but thanks to posts from lucky concertgoers, we’re starting to get a sense of what went down.

And here is everything we know about this musical power couple‘s tour — so far.

After On the Run II‘s debut at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Bey and Jay-Z will work their way around Europe until July 25th, when the tour heads to the United States. There, things will kick off in Cleveland, Ohio and continue for 28 stops around the States (and one show in Vancouver).

If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to one of these tour dates, what can you expect?

On the Run II‘soverarching theme is “Gangster and his Queen.” It reportedly features video interludes, including photos of Sir and Rumi Carter. Some of the visuals were allegedly filmed in Jamaica and include footage of the couple renewing their vows in front of their three children (aww). Other intimate family moments are also used as a backdrop to their music.

If storytelling doesn’t do it for you, On the Run II‘s technical effects deliver.

Both artists have multiple (and memorable) costume changes. The set is elaborate, with the power couple making their entrance in an elevator (see what they did there?). There’s even a floating stage. false

The tour addresses Jay-Z’s infidelity, but by the end of the set, it’s clear the couple has reconciled.

Official On the Run II merch even defines the word “f*ckery,” which many fans speculate is an allusion to Jay-Z’s affairs. In the second-to-last song in their set, Bey reportedly covers Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect,” before wrapping things up with “Young Forever.”

Apparently, during their June 15th show in London, the couple paid tribute to the Grenfell Tower tragedy that took place a year earlier — almost to the day — on June 14th, 2017 and claimed 72 lives.

"This goes out to the family and friends of the victims of the Grenfell fire, God bless you," Beyoncé said before performing "Forever Young."
