Everything we’re still talking about from last night’s VMAs

So MTV’s Video Music Awards happened last night and they were interesting, huh? Maybe “interesting” isn’t the right word, but this year’s VMAs were certainly something. They’ve given us more than enough to talk about for the next day (week, month, year… forever and ever).

Where do we even begin? Let’s run through the biggest moments of the night we’re still obsessing over right now, from the costumes, to the performances, to the drama that went down on stage.

Taylor Swift dropped her video for “Wildest Dreams.”

Before the show had even started, we got one of the biggest reveals of the night. Taylor Swift dropped her heavily-anticipated video for “Wildest Dreams.” It features lots of safari animals, a biplane, and Scott Eastwood. Basically, it’s our new obsession.

Kayne 2020 became a thing.

We’re not even through the 2016 election season yet, but already, we’ve got one politician looking further down the road. Kayne West has decided to run for president in 2020, because OF COURSE. At the end of his acceptance speech for his Video Vanguard Award, he did a huge mic drop when he proclaimed that he’s going to made a bid for the White House in five short years.

No more bad blood.

When the VMA nominations were first announced, there was some animosity among the nominees, namely Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift. They quickly made up on Twitter, but there were still some lingering feelings out there. Well, not anymore. During Minaj’s opening act, Swift joined her on stage for a performance of “The Night Is Still Young” followed by “Bad Blood.” There’s none of that here anymore.

Oh, but then there was more bad blood.

The only winner from this bad blood feud is Rebel Wilson’s face.

You know what they say, when one feud ends, another one begins. In a New York Times article last week, VMA host Miley Cyrus commented on Minaj’s reaction to being snubbed in some categories at the VMAs. Minaj decided to call out Cyrus last night during the awards in the totally unscripted, and biggest OMG moment of the night. Can’t we all just get along??

And then “Bad Blood” won for real.

Taking home the Moonman for Video of the Year, Swift and her entire Squad took to the stage. Her acceptance speech was super short and sweet, and she commented that she’s so happy to live “in a world where boys can play princesses and girls can play soldiers.” Then it was time to get off the stage and party backstage with the Squad.

Bieber’s back!

Performing at the VMAs for the first time in five years, Justin Bieber took to the stage to sing his brand new song, “What Do You Mean.” We mean that we absolutely loved it, and we might have gotten a little misty-eyed watching Bieber tear up at the end of it (while he was floating through the sky).

The best performances of the night.

Imma let all the other performances finish, but two of them completely stole the show last night. Even better, both were completely different. We had The Weeknd surrounded by a literal ring of fire singing “Can’t Feel My Face,” and then Tori Kelly brought the house down without any sort of fire, as she belted out “Should’ve Been Us.

Miley dropped a brand new album.

Going into this year’s VMAs, we knew things were going to be crazy with host Cyrus. No one knew what she was going to do. And we certainly never expected her to drop a brand new album on us as the show closed. Last night, the website immediately crashed leaving all of us unable to check it out (I can’t be the only one who frantically tried to listen to it). Now, it appears to be up and working, so check out Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz — for free!

And, also, everything Miley wore.

And didn‘t wear in some cases. She’s just being Miley, you guys. And she clearly had a blast hosting the show. While she might not be up for hosting the Oscars next, we would happily take another 15 VMAs with Cyrus as its ringleader.
