Everyone wants a new ‘Princess Diaries’ film including the actors — AND they want a female director

If you’re as big of a fan of Princess Diaries as we are, you’ve been craving a sequel like no other for YEARS. It’s one of those things that feels like it’s *never* going to happen in the worst way. BUT, there is hope, because according to an interview in Variety Latino, apparently the actors are just as desperate for the series to continue as we are!

Héctor Elizondo, aka Joe, Mia’s super sweet bodyguard, wants a sequel too.

“I would like to do it,” he said. “I’m ready! It’s time to go back to Genovia!”

Plus, Elizondo says, he’s not the only one!

“It’s not official, but certainly, everybody wants it done. It’s been discussed,” he explained. “I know Annie would like to do it. I know Julie would like to do it. So we’re on board, it’s a question of when and a question of getting a good story.”

YES, our hearts are so happy right now.

And, the best part? Elizondo is hoping for a female director this time around.

“I’d love it to be a woman,” Elizondo said. “We don’t have enough of them. That would be nice. God knows there are female directors out there. That would be lovely. I’m sure they’ll come up with a more than competent director.”

Hello, major feminism happening here! Though, why are we surprised? This is the Princess Diaries we’re talking about.
