“Everyone Poops” got the sci-fi thriller treatment, and we’re LOLing

The past year or so, we’ve seen quite a few children’s classics being transformed into live-action adaptations — The Jungle Book, BFG, and The Little Prince, to name a few. Now, “Maya & Marty” is making us totally LOL with an adaptation of their own: Everyone Poops by Tarō Gomi. And it’s pretty darn glorious.
The NBC sketch comedy series adapted the best-selling children’s book into a blockbuster sci-fi thriller trailer last night starring Ana Gasteyer as the scientist trying to prove to everyone — including the U.S. president (Martin Short) — that we all poop.
“Mr. President, you cannot argue with basic biology,” she tells the president, to which he responds, “With all due respect, ma’am, I don’t know if I want to live in a world where everyone poops.”
Then comes the kicker: “With all due respect, sir, you already do.”
But arguing with the leader of the free world over pooping isn’t the only trial Ana Gasteyer’s character must go through — she also is threatened by Kenan Thompson in a parking lot (“Not everyone poops, but everyone dies“) and gets in an argument with her husband, who is in denial about his own pooping.
LOLing forever. Honestly, we’d be totally down for seeing the full version of this. Everyone poops, guys — and don’t let the government tell you otherwise.
