Eva Mendes gave a super subtle shout out to Ryan Gosling after his Golden Globes acceptance speech, and we love her chill

If you watched the Golden Globes this past Sunday/have access to the internet, then you’ve probably heard about Ryan Gosling’s super sweet acceptance speech in which he thanked his wife — actress Eva Mendes — for all she has done to make his dreams a reality. And in true cool-girl style, Eva Mendes responded to Ryan Gosling’s speech in the subtlest, most chill way possible (because, tbh, we’d have passed out).

In case you did miss it, here was the basic content of Gosling’s speech:

"While I was singing and dancing and playing piano and having one of the best experiences I ever had on a film, my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second, and trying to help her brother fight his battle with cancer, he said. “If she hadn’t have taken all that on so that I could have this experience, there would surely be someone else up here other than me today. So sweetheart, thank you."

Mendes then posted this to her Insta account not long after,

"Obviously this wasn't my favorite moment of the night....But it was definitely my favorite style moment of the night."

See what she did there? We all of course know that her favorite moment is in reference to Gosling’s win/speech (well, we’re assuming that’s what she meant), but tbh, we kinda love how she isn’t harping on it. Instead, Mendes — who’s a designer in her own right — is keeping her eye on the ball and recognizing some stellar style when she sees it (and some stellar lady talent in the “stunning and talented” Janelle Monae).

Also, we gotta say, we’re in pretty solid agreement with Eva’s assessment: Janelle looked GORGEOUS and this look was on point.

Basically, we love the sly shout out to Gosling, and we love how Eva kept it low-key cool (while managing to shine some light on a super talented actress). Never stop!
