Eva Mendes has a new cropped bob that she says makes her “mom life a helluva lot easier”
Busy actress and designer Eva Mendes has always been private about her family, but she’s not quiet about the realities of motherhood. On Instagram, Mendes showed off a new cropped bob haircut—and the totally relatable reason behind it. According to her caption, she is loving the short new cut because of how it makes her life as a mom “a helluva lot easier.”
For so long, we’ve been used to seeing Mendes’s long, flowing hair. She was even a hair model for Pantene in the early 2010s. And it looks like she, too, had to gear up for her major hair transformation—her first-ever short cut, according to her stylist—with a goodbye post on Instagram.
“Saying goodbye to my long locks today….Will update if you care ? @giannandreahair and I have a plan…” Mendes captioned a January 21st post. (Eva, of course we care!)

On Saturday, she gave a much-needed update on that haircut:
“My coworker getting her kicks and teasing me about my ‘cute’ new hair. Thanks to @giannandreahair for making my mom life a helluva lot easier,” Mendes captioned her post.

We completely agree with Eva’s coworker, BTW. Mendes is “back to work” at a design meeting for her New York & Company collection. Stylist Giannandrea—who also works with Jessica Simpson, Chrissy Teigen, Chrissy Metz, and other stars—posted another video of her cropped bob in action, and he seems just as excited about the look as we all are.

Mendes is a “cool mama” to two daughters, Amada and Esmeralda, with Ryan Gosling. She’s been very private about her family (as she has the right to be), but we love this glimpse into her motherhood life. In an April 2019 interview with Women’s Health, Mendes did open up about the support she has around her as mother of two young children.
"We have an amazing support group: Ryan’s mom, my mom, Ryan’s and my sisters. It’s a village that helped us," Mendes told Women's Health. "My heart goes out to women who do this alone. I basically come from a single-parent household; although I love my dad, my mom mostly raised four of us on her own."
