Eugénie Bigot is our Illustrator of the Week!
Eugénie Bigot can’t be pinned down to one style (or medium) of art. The 25-year-old graphic designer and illustrator has mastered intricate line drawings; bold vector graphics; and watercolor portraiture — and all of them are beautiful. Her art is fun and full of delightful surprises, and we can’t get enough of it. Eugénie describes herself as a “normal girl,” but we think her work is more than extraordinary — and that’s why she’s our Illustrator of the Week!

No pressure, but describe your art: It’s hard to describe my art, because I use different techniques. Drawing, ink, vector — I use each one depending on my mood. But I can say that I’m obsessed with graphic design, colorful things, pure lines, and very complex illustrations. Just like clothing, we don’t have to have only one style!
What inspires you to make things: Pinterest and Behance are big inspirations for me. Great graphic designers upload their projects there. I also have the chance to live in a very artistic city, Nantes, with a lot of exhibitions about graphic design.
Your favorite thing(s) to draw: I love to draw portraits of women, using rotring (a very thin pen) and ink painting. I love how the precision of the pen matches with the abstract side of ink painting. On the other hand, while I love to draw complicated illustrations with a lot of details, when I go for this technique I never draw portraits.
Medium of choice: Ink, rotring pen.
The first time you knew you wanted to be an artist: As far as I remember, I always wanted to be an artist! When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a dancer, then a musician — and I always drew. But it was four years ago (before I attended my graphic design school), during an internship at an advertising agency, that I realized I wanted to work as a creative.
Proudest achievement so far: I just finished my degree in graphic design a couple weeks ago; it’s been four years of really hard work and sacrifice. But I passed, and I’m really satisfied with the work I’ve done — especially for the advertising campaign I had to make for my diploma. It was about a cat hotel! (Yes, you read that right!) I’m a cat-obsessed. The concept was pretty mad. I loved working on this, and doing vector illustrations.
Music you listen to while you work: Electro, pop, soul, rock, folk — It depends on the type of work, or if I need a lot of motivation! These days I’m obsessed with Madeon, La Fine Equipe, Mark Ronson, Muse, Willis Earl Beal, Blur, Marian Hill. . . and the Backstreet Boys!
Your most prized possession: My cat. Basically the love of my life.
Your personal hero: It will sound cheesy, but my mom. She’s brave, intelligent, and knows what she wants. I try my best to be like her.
The last thing to make you giggle: Smosh, and cats. Duh!
Current project(s): I’m currently working hard on my personal website (eugenie-b.fr); it will be available in a week! [Editor’s Note: It’s available now!]
