Emma Watson surprised us with this anti-Belle look

A wise woman once said, “Everybody’s got a dark side.” Even those who play Disney Princesses aren’t always swathed in pastels. Emma Watson — who plays Belle in the live-action remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast — served us the perfect example, showing her dark side at theNew York screening of BATB last night while dressed in a gothic ensemble. It’s safe to say that Watson looked very anti-Belle — but in the best way.

Watson donned a custom-made Givenchy Haute Couture Riccardo Tisci gown. It’s structured and angular pleated bodice sat atop a mesh underlay. The skirt was simple with a single off-centered slit.

The back showed off a large bow and Watson’s bare lower back. Watson looked extremely glamorous and perfectly dressed to play Maleficent in Disney’s live action remake of Snow White.

Oh, right. That’s already been done. Never mind. Watson still looks great, though.

This outfit is quite a contrast to what she wore earlier in the day to a book reading with kids from The NY Film Society for Kids. Watson was dressed in a Dior Haute Couture gown that actually looks like it was stolen from Belle’s closet.

It’s yellow, it’s elegant, and it would look amazing twirling around a regal ballroom, don’t you think?

If you’ve been following Watson’s Instagram account, The Press Tour, then you’ve kept up-to-speed on her fashion throughout the Beauty and the Beast press tour. She’s been wearing sustainable and eco-friendly fashion to every event. So not only does she look amazing at each event she’s attended, but she’s doing right by the Earth, too. That’s our kind of Disney Princess!

Yes, everybody does have a dark side. And we wish our dark side was as glam as Watson’s because that kind of dark side has fashion-forward written all over it.
