Remembering that time Emma Watson made a ‘Harry Potter’ fan’s Halloween

Harry Potter is going to be a Halloween staple for, well, ever. Kids and adults have been opting for the Hogwarts uniform for years, whether they dress up as Harry himself, Luna Lovegood, or even the dreaded Draco Malfoy. But for one little boy a few years ago, his Harry Potter costume got a special addition when he met none other than Hermione Granger herself.

At the time, the picture of Emma Watson and the New York resident who dressed as Potter went totally viral, because it’s adorable. And now it’s back making the rounds, because it is adorable.

Last week, Movies Now reposted this vintage photo (which dates back to 2012) on their Facebook page, and it’s since been shared over 80,000 times.

According to Halloween legend (and this Hypable), Watson spotted her fictional partner in crime while he was out trick or treating. She walked over and asked, “Excuse me, are you Harry Potter?”

When the boy said yes, she responded, “That’s great, because I’m Hermione Granger and we’re best of friends!”

Then they hugged and snapped the picture that will live on in Halloween history — Harry Potter and his brilliant bestie reunited in Manhattan! If this picture keeps popping up on social media around Halloween, it’s alright with us.

Of course and all too fittingly, Ron Weasley was nowhere to be seen for the photo-op.
