Emma Watson just started a feminist book club on Twitter
Life doesn’t get much cooler than being in a book club with a celebrity, which is why we’re so excited that our beloved Emma Watson just started a book club we can all be a part of, no matter where we are in the world or how tenuous our ties are to Hollywood. All you need is an internet connection and a Twitter account (and if you’re reading this right now, you already have at LEAST one of those).
Yesterday,Watson took to Twitter to make her plans known. She had the idea, she just didn’t exactly have a name for her genius brainchild:
And the suggestions came pouring in. Our favorites include “Em’s Femmes,” “Watson Your Book Club,” “Hermione’s Army,” and “S.P.E.W.” or “The Society for the Promotion of Empowered Women.”
We really like the fan suggestion Watson ended up going with:
CLIFFHANGER.
So what IS coming next?
Twitter has been slamming Watson with requests to invite their favorite celebs to become members and Watson has agreed to invite the likes of J.K. Rowling, Taylor Swift, and Rowan Blanchard to get their read on. So it looks like we’re going to be in a book club with LOTS of celebrities, hurrah, huzzah!
It also looks like the reading list is going to be chock full of feminist goodness. Watson has promised that bell hooks will be on the docket, and it looks like she’s going to start things off with the work of another legendary feminist:
We super-excitedly wait further instructions. After all, even though the title didn’t get chosen, we are, and will forever be #HermionesArmy.
