Emma Stone laughing about a meltdown she had with Ryan Gosling might make you feel better about your random anxiety attacks

Emma Stone let us know this week that even famous actresses get anxious doing their job and we couldn’t be more relieved to know that we’re not the only ones having some major meltdowns now and again. The La La Land actress and Ryan Gosling were recently on The Graham Norton Show and talked about all of the movies they’ve been in together. In the candid interview, Stone talked about how she did not look forward to filming the scene where Ryan Gosling lifts Stone into the air, mimicking the famous Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey’s scene in the classic Dirty Dancing.

“When we do Crazy, Stupid, Love, I know that we’re gonna do the Dirty Dancing lift. I don’t know, however, that I have an internalized phobia of being lifted over someone’s head at the height of about 6 feet,” she said, shortly after prefacing that her childhood gymnastics instructor dropping her and causing her to break both of her arms.

Ouch!

Before filming the scene, Emma said that freaked out, “And then it was a meltdown. I mean, I had a real meltdown…I had to go lie down.”

To calm down, she also left and watched Labyrinth, as one does when they need to chill out a little bit. Eventually a body double replaced her in the scene, but we’re glad it hasn’t stopped her from dancing with Gosling. We’re also glad to see a successful actress talk about their anxiety, or PTSD, really,  so candidly

Past events can make us anxious, and that’s perfectly normal! Hopefully actresses continue to talk about their mental health, ending the stigma <3.
