Emma Stone got to discuss *that* awkward Golden Globes moment, and she thinks it’s as funny as we do

Whether she likes it or not, she’s been a pro at being captured in gif form since the opening of Easy A. So, it’s a good thing that Emma Stone thought her awkward Golden Globes moment was pretty humorous, since she’s probably had to relive it over and over again, on loop.

Stone appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, and while she talked about the Super Bowl (which she kinda-sorta watched — as did we) she also was game to talk about the awards show. Even though it aired in early January, people are still buzzing about how it all went down.

While Stone was a big winner with La La Land, she had a strange moment with director and screenwriter Damien Chazelle that was captured on film.

While Chazelle surely didn’t mean to reject her hug, the timing was all off. And the reason why the world loves it so much? It’s super relatable. We’ve all been Emma Stone at that exact moment before.

So, that’s why we’re glad that Jimmy Kimmel didn’t shy away from discussing it.

"Damien certainly wants to hug not me," Stone said with a laugh.

Kimmel made a good point — the move was especially awkward since the film that the two worked on together was so highly choreographed.

While the slow motion was a funny touch, it’s nice to know that Stone could joke about the brief encounter. Stuff like this happens pretty frequently, so we’re so happy to see she’s got a healthy sense of humor about the whole thing!
