Emma Stone explains why she cried at her handprint ceremony, and it’s just another reason to love her

Oh Emma, our fave. Emma Stone explained why she cried at her handprint ceremony, and it makes her so relatable.

Back in December, Stone and La La Land co-star, Ryan Gosling, got their handprints — and shoe prints — cemented in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater. It’s a HUGE honor in Hollywood to make it to this level, and it’s something Stone doesn’t take lightly.

In fact, once she finally realized that her signature, footprints and handprints would be outside forever, she cried. Yes, famous people cry, and yes, we love her even more for it.

“I had no idea what the hell was going on,” Stone revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday.

She explained that she never expected to have her cement block on the courtyard, because she assumed the handprint area was already full of previous A-list hands. Instead, she thought hers would be inside, so the gravity of the situation didn’t sink in before she arrived.

“[I thought], ‘They’ve got all the hand and footprints. This is just a fun little celebration and they put it up in a museum somewhere,’” the Easy A star recalled. “I don’t know why I thought this. It wasn’t explained to me.”

"So when we went I was like, 'This is gonna be a nostalgic celebration, we're gonna put our hands and feet in the cement and then they're gonna take it away and then they're gonna put it inside,'" she continued.

“Then they were like, ‘Here’s your practice [cement slab] and then, when you get out there for the real one that stays out there, you’ll know what to do,’” she said. “And I was like, ‘What do you mean stays out there!?’ … I had no idea!”

That was the moment Stone said she “burst into tears and really humiliated myself.”

“Everyone was like, ‘I don’t understand how you didn’t know that’s what this is,’” she added.

Seriously, it’s reactions like this that make the Aloha actress so relatable and lovable.
