A bust of babe Emma Stone, in honor of her birthday

When it comes to glow-ups, there are few as inspiring as Emma Stone’s journey from Superbad to La La Land.

Born in Arizona in 1988, Stone eventually convinced her family via PowerPoint presentation to move to Los Angeles to pursue her acting passion. She landed her first major role with Superbad in 2007, going on to secure roles in Zombieland, Easy A (her first starring role), Crazy, Stupid, Love (her first time acting with Gosling), The Help, The Amazing Spider-Man (RIP to the Garfield-Stone romance), Birdman (2014), and, most recently (and notably) La La Land.

However, Stone isn’t one of our favorites just because of her acting chops.

She’s also been candid about her experience with anxiety, telling The Wall Street Journal in 2015:

“The first time I had a panic attack I was sitting in my friend’s house, and I thought the house was burning down. I called my mom and she brought me home, and for the next three years it just would not stop. I would go to the nurse at lunch most days and just wring my hands. I would ask my mom to tell me exactly how the day was going to be, then ask again 30 seconds later. I just needed to know that no one was going to die and nothing was going to change.”

We also love that Stone is such a bold, unafraid, comedic leading lady.

Another favorite Emma quote:

"I think this is a wonderful time for women. I think the tide is turning, and there are so many brave, authentic, strong, and funny and vulnerable and exciting women in every industry right now."

So, happy birthday, Emma. Thanks for showing us that we can achieve our dreams, one PowerPoint at a time.
