Was Emma Roberts’ Met Gala dress inspired by Coachella?

Amidst a sea of metallic mermaid gowns, Emma Roberts is on her very own Coachella island. Though the music festival ended last weekend, it seems that the Scream Queens star couldn’t get enough when deciding what to wear to this year’s Met Gala.

About an hour ago, Roberts Instagrammed a pic of herself getting ready. Cascading down her back was a long, tightly-wound braid – a hint that she was going to bring some festival flair to the gala carpet. What she ended up wearing is a floor-length, halter dress featuring purple ombre layers. (It’s a custom-made Tory Burch number, by the way.) There are geometric and Swarovski details, which compliment her metallic arm bracelets. As for that braid we saw earlier? It’s now wrapped around her head – flower crown-style.

Though… were not quite sure how her look fits the “Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology” theme. Maybe she’s envisioning the future of Coachella? Will Coachella one day be visited by a hoard of ombre purple, indie robots?

“Tory’s design team hand cut Swarovski crystal rock fabric and then heat sealed it on my gown to give it a futuristic, modern technology vibe,” explained Emma, giving Teen Vogue a behind-the-scenes peek at her private dress fitting. “Tory wanted to honor the theme but keep it young, current and sexy.”

Keeping in mind that Emma recently Instagrammed saying she’s counting down the days until next year’s Coachella, we definitely consider this dress to be proof.
