In case you didn’t know, Emma Roberts is incredible at recommending books on her Instagram
In case you missed it — which you totally might’ve — Emma Roberts gives great book recommendations on Instagram. While it might not be an official book club, we’re definitely joining in.
On Sunday, Roberts posted a photo of herself in a giant bookstore, proving she is in fact a HUGE bookworm. This picture got us to thinking about all of the fabulous books that the Scream Queens star reads and shares on social media.
You might not have noticed, but the 25-year-old actress is always reading. Better than that, she’s always posting pictures using the hashtag, #currentlyreading, and now we’re taking notes.
While looking at Robert’s Instagram account we’ve found seven books she’s read in the last year that you need on your book list ASAP.
1When Watched by Leopoldine Core
The newest book that Roberts is reading is When Watched. It is a collection of essays from author Leopoldine Core. She takes you through New York City with 20 stories on a variety of topics, each one relatable, daring and totally refreshing.
2Jane: A Murder by Maggie Nelson
In need of something a little darker and haunting? Then Jane: A Murder is for you. This book tells the story about the life and death of author Maggie Nelson’s aunt Jane, who was murdered in 1969. The story explores the murder through a collage of poetry, prose, newspapers clippings and pieces of Jane’s diaries.
3Still Life with Woodpecker by Tom Robbins
This novel is one that the actress always finds herself coming back to, which makes us want to read it even more. Still Life with Woodpecker is actually a love story, but it takes place inside a pack of cigarettes. Yes, you read that correctly.
4The Guineveres: A Novel by Sarah Domet
Need a book that pairs perfectly with juicing? According to the former Nickelodeon star, this is it. The Guineveres is all about friendship. It revolves around four best friends all named “Guinevere,” aka Vere, Gwen, Ginny and Win. They only have each other, and together they overcome everything.
5I’ll Tell You in Person by Chloe Caldwell
Roberts read this 2016 novel during Halloween, with a crystal by her side, and therefore we plan to do the same. I’ll Tell You in Person is a collection of essays that is smart and to the point. It tells tales of failing at love, getting addicted to people, and more.
6Pond by Claire-Louise Bennett
The cover alone makes us want to dive into this novel right now. Pond isn’t for the faint of heart. It depicts the ups and downs of living in solitude in a coastal town. It makes you see a world that is dark, funny and somehow moving all at the same time.
7Slow Days, Fast Company: The World, the Flesh, and L.A. by Eve Babitz
Break out your popcorn for this one and prepare to go back in time. Slow Days, Fast Company takes place in Los Angeles during the 1960s. Author Eve Babitz gives you a glimpse into the past, and makes it relevant to today. She gives you a ’60s lens of LA that we’ve almost forgotten.
