Emma Roberts’ new movie hits theaters today, and here’s why we’re dying to see it

If you’re a horror film and Emma Roberts fan, we have a movie that you need to see. The new movie The Blackcoat’s Daughter stars Emma Roberts,  Kiernan Shipka, and Lucy Boynton. The movie centers around two girls left at a boarding school during winter break. A mysterious young woman appears at the boarding school with an unknown couple. Sounds creepy!

Emma Roberts told Vogue that Scream Queens isn’t the only reason why she loves horror. She loves reading scary stories. As long as they aren’t super gory.

“I love Stephen King, she said. “Shutter Island is one of my favorite books. My mind was blown away when I read it. I had to go back and read it again.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter is scary and complex

"I was so enthralled with the script," Kiernan Shipka told InStyle. "I just thought it was such a simple quiet movie but at the same time so complex, and that's what I loved about it, these different layers."

Emma Roberts agreed. She added:

"This is much more than a horror movie, which I liked. Reading the script, it read to me like a novel."

The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was also nominated for Best American Independent Feature Film at the Cleveland International Film Festival. The Blackcoat’s Daughter came out for limited release in select theaters and on demand yesterday, March 31st.
