The actress who played Emma in Friends just responded to Chandler’s joke about 2020

Remember that one episode of Friends when Rachel (played by Jennifer Aniston) and Ross (David Schwimmer) threw their daughter Emma a first birthday party but wouldn’t actually start the party until Emma woke up from her nap? And remember how Chandler (Matthew Perry) slung one of his famous one-liners at his niece that went, “Hi, Emma. It’s the year 2020. Are you still enjoying your nap?” Well, Emma (or the actress who played her, Noelle Sheldon) finally delivered a hilarious comeback.

"Just woke up from the best nap of all time, happy 2020!!" Sheldon wrote in the caption of a January 1st Instagram post. "(ft. my poorly done photoshop)," she added, having cut-and-pasted herself in Central Perk. "Hope everyone has an excellent year full of family, friends, and laughter!!"

In the wise words of Janice, Oh. My. GOD.

Perry may have delivered that famous line back in 2003, during Friends’ 10th season, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it was all that long ago. It’s actually kind of shocking to know that Emma, who was played both by Noelle and her twin sister, Cali, during Seasons 9 and 10, is a full-blown 17-year-old in real life.

Um…we’re feeling decrepit.

For those who need a refresh on the scene in question, it’s from the episode “The One With the Cake.” Perry said the line when Ross asked him to share some kind words to future Emma on her 18th birthday:

We may only be a few days into 2020, but Noelle Sheldon has already won the entire year with her hilarious Friends throwback. We sincerely hope she enjoyed her nap.
